What do you like about being a funeral director?
The privilege of walking alongside families when they need support and guidance most.
Do you speak any other languages?
I am currently re-learning Te Reo Māori.
What do you like about your local area?
Our local community is incredibly diverse, and we have the opportunity to learn about and understand the many micro-communities that make up our region through the interactions we have with the families we serve.
What charities does your brand/location support in your area?
Giving back to our community is important to us. We are proud to support a number of charitable organisations and community initiatives, including Lifeline, the Red Nose Foundation, Wrapped with Love, Lions Recycle for Sight Australia and our Nespresso Pods Collection Program, helping make a positive difference both locally and beyond.
What inspired you to work in funeral planning?
I felt called to work in an environment that has real-world impact and purpose.
How do you and your team support families at such an important time?
We understand the importance of providing guidance, care and compassion during what is often one of the most difficult times in a family's life. Our own experiences of loss through family and friends have shaped our appreciation of the support people need during times of grief, allowing us to walk alongside families with empathy and understanding.
What would you like to have included at your funeral and why?
As someone of Māori and Scottish descent, it would be important that my funeral reflects my culture, heritage and the people who have influenced my life. Most importantly, I would want it to be a meaningful gathering for family and friends.
What do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family, whether that's gathering together, playing sport, hiking, camping, heading to the beach, exploring new places or planning the next family event. I also love music and attend as many live gigs as time allows.
What song would you play at your funeral and why?
Music would play an important role in my funeral. Alongside recorded music, I would want live music to be part of the service, helping bring people together in remembrance, connection and celebration of life.
What's the most remarkable funeral you've ever arranged?
One of the most remarkable services I have arranged was a memorial where the family created a beautiful and deeply personal tribute to their loved one. The stories shared painted a picture of a life lived with purpose, creativity and care for others. What made the service especially memorable was the way the family honoured their loved one's decision to make a lasting contribution to medical research and education, reflecting a deep sense of gratitude and generosity. What stayed with me was the respect in the room and the lasting impact one person had on so many lives.
What's one thing people don't know about you?
People who know me, know me well. I love bringing family and friends along on life's adventures, whether that's camping, road trips, festivals or exploring somewhere new. Something many people don't know about me is that I studied outdoor guiding and marine biology.
