Understandably, not many people know exactly what to do when someone dies so it can be helpful to take a moment to gather your thoughts and to allow emotions to be expressed.
You don’t have to make any decisions immediately. You can call friends and family for support if you would like, and discuss your ideas or your loved ones wishes about the funeral service before meeting with one of our funeral directors.
After this, whatever the circumstances at the time of death, you can contact your nearest Tobin Brothers funeral home directly or call us on (02) 6295 2799. Our funeral directors can then assist you with what you need to do immediately, who you might need to contact and what information or documentation you might need to gather together. Some of the things that are typically needed include:
- The full name, address and age of the deceased
- The location where the deceased is located
- The name and contact details of the deceased’s doctor
- Whether a death certificate has been issued – if it hasn’t we can take care of this for you, and
- You might also wish to bring a photo of your loved one.
We will then organise an appropriate time for you to meet with one of our funeral directors so you can sit in a comfortable environment and discuss your wishes for the funeral.
